The repair of my 72520 set is going slow, but I think I should be able to actually get it fixed eventually. However I came across a 4042 Matra repair car that I don't think I'll be able to salvage myself. See pics:

I have no idea where I'd get replacement doors, and the chassis is just dreadful. Maybe someone else could fix it but I think this is beyond my ability as a casual hobbyist.

Therefore I think it's best if this one's taken off my hands. If anyone wants it for their own restoration project I will clean it and mail it to you free of charge.

If the crane is still operable / posable, then I would be interested, but the cost to you to ship it to the UK, would be prohibitive. - Not to mention charges at this end.

So I suggest it stays your-side of the pond.

It doesn't look so bad to me. What's wrong with it? a broken wheel, a broken coupler, and a little grime? Surely you could fix that with a couple of replacement parts.

Bung it in the dishwasher to clean it if you have one. If you do not have one a good wash with soapy water and allowed to dry would be a good start. Then 1 set of wheels as the bogies look ok. New doors could easily be cut from plastic siding and sprayed yellow. Finding a good match at an auto repeir shop should not be too difficult. LGB Coupling sets are easily available. Then step back and admire your handiwork, you will be on your way to one of the most rewarding parts of the hobby. Fixing broken things, next up would be to make a wagon yourself. Your new found skills will put you on your way.

I think the crane is broken too. There's a piece hanging from it and the rope doesn't seem to move when I turn the crank.

Trainli.com does have the doors and boom, but I would find another Matra for less money than the cost of all these parts that you need.

I agree with dunnyrail,
Besides his advice you could also start with a small 3D printer making your own parts.
Its great fun to explore this amazing technique and once you are "on track" the sky is the limit !

When I went to look at the car today I realized the base of the crane had been broken. The plastic was split like someone was trying to yank the crane off. Upon realizing this I decided to simply dispose of the car; I don't have the resources to do it and I'm not sure how well others could fare restoring it with damage like that. Sorry folks.

That's a shame, I'm surprised no one "Over There" took it on, even just for spares. There's at least one set of wheels and a bogey that would be useful, not to mention bits of the crane itself
