Feldbahn smoke generator

Short answer, NO. You may want to consider experimenting with a smoke generator from one of the smaller scales. You'll need to check the voltage. Just a thought, I installed a Heng Long smoke generator into one of my LGB 2090 diesels. In another one I fitted a USA fan driven generator. It would be a reallt tight fit for a feldbahn loco however. I never considered doing it so I don't know if the thing would even be close to fitting.

Here are two films of my 2090s with smoke;

Ad Dan says, I don't think you'd be able to get anything designed for G into a Feldbahn chimney; they seem to be semi-solid mouldings never designed for smoke. I don't know anything about smoke units for smaller scales, but that is the only sort of thing that might possibly fit. If you used one of the balloon stacks (the "cake tin" drum at the top of the chimney) then you might have a little more room to play with - if you want to swap your straight stack for a balloon one, PM me!

I installed a seuthe HO unit into my chloe.
I used the one which has a larger bottom than top, and i cannot recall the number but i believe it is unqiue in its shape.
It has a surprisingly good reservoir.
Otoh, it has such a small opening that the use of a hypodermic like syringe (supplied with the unit) is essential, otherwise surface tension keeps the smoke fluid on top.

Heres what i know.
First drilling the stack is a must, and you should check out how they connect into the body
since replacements may be difficult.

Also be aware that smoke fluid overflow will go into the area below.

You may only need a hole wide enough to accomodate the wires, depending on the how the unit itself fits into the stack. This wasnt an issue for the Chloe which has a balloon style stack.
As I recall, I believe the FRR stacks simply screw into the boiler, so drilling shouldnt be an issue. The US versions have an odd sort of hook like arrangement.
Second, since I presume you will use track power-be aware that even the 16 v HO units require that the loco run rather quickly to produce more than a wisp.

I would check the length of smoke unit you choose along with its girth, as the FRR straight stack is quite narrow. The larger turban style might be more accomodating if you can locate one, and, you will have a spare.

Where's the train in the photo...:love::love:

We know what YOU'RE looking at, Dan..... ;)

I'd better not send you a pic of my office or workshop, you might come over quite peculiar (one of the great joys of working for myself is that I don't have any little PC whiners telling me which calendars I can and can't put up.....!)

down boy!;)
heres a shot of the marker lamps- i used lower voltage lamps 16v i think-perhaps 14
these look right when running in the dark-a bit dimmer than the headlight-i wonder if you could mod these with white lens for the FRR steamer?
-guess if youre running DCC youll need everything 24v
