Hi, Following upon the success of the sound storage I would like to go one step further. Whilst I have the LGB loco in bits I would like to add a flicker to the firebox, does anyone have a component list and wiring diagram for such an arrangement? Bearing in mind that the original PCB within the loco has been removed since it became faulty so said loco now runs straight from the track ie everything is now running on 18-24v.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Regards.

Massoth do a ready to fit board

I've made my own animated firebox flicker unit, costs about £3.50 but it requires a the supply to be switched off after each cycle or it will only operate once. I've hooked it up to a Massoth Ls decoder so it's not an issue for me as it switches on and off with the coal shovelling sound using a function. I'm sure it could be adapted to work on analogue with some thought.
If anyone is interested I'll take some pics when I do the next one.

Back in January Bannerman proposed this method?????

"May I suggest the simplest and quickest and easiest solution ? Buy some red, yellow & orange, 3mm or 5mm, flashing LEDs (very cheap on Ebay).

Group and wire at least five in parallel (with individual resistors according to supply voltage and brightness required, typically 270 ohms for 12V DC supply).

(If the LEDs are rated at 3.5V, run direct from 2 AA batteries without resistors.)

This provides an excellent fire-like flickering effect, also useful for under camp-fires etc. ?

Just change the resistors for 18-24V working
