I thought I was the only G scale modeller in our area, but I was wrong. Yesterday we had our first visitors, Peter and his dad Ron (a retired local engine driver, no less!). Peter has been 3d printing quite a bit of rolling stock in NZ120 scale, which you can admire on his web site. In the last 9 months he has also printed quite an impressive range of 1:24 locos and wagons and he brought them and a controller along to test them. Here they are:
Since I don't normally have track power we expected problems and had plenty. Still, we ended up with about 10m of usable track. Powered by an Aristo Critter chassis this shunter ran quite well:
The big steamer with its 3d printed drivers only picks up power from two wheels on the tender, so it was a little less successful, but ran nicely when it did. Even the gears and valve gear are printed:
This tank engine uses a Bachmann chassis, so it had better power pickup and ran quite well.
We had an enjoyable afternoon testing trains in the sun.
