Mike (Artfull Dodger) kindly sold me his Merlin Maestro - I was looking for a short wheelbase steamer to run at my pal Jack's Calusa Creek, which is showing its age and is a bit rough. Here's a few pics and a short video.

As an aside, having just read the recent reissue of the book about the Sand Hutton Light Railway, I'm struck by the similarity of those little LGB wagons to the Deptford army depot wagons used at SH. You can easily see them lifting off the frames and being craned to the hold of a ship, or to a std gauge wagon for transhipment.

They do work a lot better with a load in them!

I got the Maestro, now named "Billy", out of its box yesterday. Here's a pic for Tac.

The wagons need more black of the cross straps - I saw a photo somewhere recently and they look even more like a UK truck with the black added.
