Hi Guys,

I'm hoping to have this new fan powered loco finished by next weekend.
I can't wait, the testbed is such a scream to drive !!!!!
All the main carving was finished today. It is now in auto grade filler primer ready for it's first finished flat coat before moulding.

Yes, industrial WW1 rolling stock is something I am looking at doing in the run up to the 16mm AGM.
 
That fan powered loco is very Tri-ang Battle Space!

Will you be painting it red, with silver windows and a yellow nose?

The idea to make it came from a young lad that had a fan driven tipper chassis at the Welshpool show this year. My stand was facing the railway he was running on all weekend. At about mid day Sunday I drew a sketch in my note pad and here we are. I did run a Triang loco on my railway as a kid, so maybe, on a subconscious level. However, looking at that engine now and mine, they are quite different.

I think that I can imagine the sort of thing you mean, but are you sure yours doesn't look like a Tri-ang one?

I 'borrowed' this image from a google search. It is credited to e-bay!

Incidentally if anyone is interested, I do replica resin noses for these and other bits for Battle Space.... (end of commercial).

No, seriously you are spot on with Flash Gordon stuff. It is far too stylish for 1960s Tri-ang. Very retro-futuristic and beautifully sculptured.

Pity Tri-ang didn't do a hoop enclosure around their fan, or fewer Battle Space turbo cars would be missing them today! That is a part that cannot be easily moulded in resin!

I bet that this will be a real fun item to run, and I wish you well with the project.

Compound curves galore. Nice looking model. James is correct about it being too sculpted for a 1960s look. It fits more with the 1930s Art Deco theme.

This is cool, I think I will buy one. Will their be a version with the components included to get running or do we have to buy those?
 
Hello,

I will be publishing an exact list of parts to buy and recommend the shop to get it all from. This shop sold me the 'test' parts for this model, and they work well. The shop an I worked out what to buy based on 'standard' easy to get parts. All the basic parts cost me £38 delivered, but you will need a Lipo safe, receiver and maybe a charger (for the lipo if you don't have one) and transmitter (if you don't have one).

The test bed got ripped apart yesterday so I can have the parts ready to fit into the real model tomorrow. I will be making a video of Flash running at Gloucester this Sunday for use on the website. I'll point you to it when it's uploaded :)
 
My personal Flash was born today.
O my, you're going to LOVE it !!!!!!!!
The performance can be HUGE !
It's as good as the test bed, but better because it stays on the bends at a modest speed.
