G-Gage Double Couplers....?

I am sorry that I cannot think of another name (or indeed the correct name) for this item.... :-\
I am looking to find out if I can get the double D coupling link for my G-Scale TTT Engine locos as I used to add them to my 00 locos and would like to add more detail to my TTT engines.....

Any help is appreciated.....

Cheers, Andy..... ;)

Do you mean 3-link couplings and hook or screw link couplings like the "real" stuff would have?
I'm guessing by "double D coupling" you mean screw couplings?

I would imagine there are some Gauge 1 or Gauge 3 parts available from specialist suppliers. Gauge 3 size might be a bit large for for G gauge TTT stuff.

[edit]
Tenmille do parts for 3-link couplings for gauge 1, see this page:

... and they do screw couplings, see here:

GRS sell working screw couplings in brass, for gauge 3:

No experience of either of the above, just found them through a quick bit of googling.

Or do you mean you would like both couplings to be compatible on each vehicle?

I have after more than 10 Years come to the conclusion that LGB Couplings are the most reliable. I change all stock, Piko, Bachmann etc to have genuine LGB Coupling Parts. All vehicles have Hooks and Springs at Both ends. The spare Hooks and Springs are available as an LGB Spare.

All Locomotives have No Hooks but the Coupling is lowered by 20 or 30 Thou with some Plasticard. This is placed between the Plate that the Loop is mounted on and the Hook. The effect of this is to depress the Hook on the adjacent vehicle a little which saves unexpected decoupling from the Locomotive and Train.

That was how I read the post the first time round, then noticed Andy mentioned "adding more detail" which made me think he's referring to prototypical-looking couplings rather than adding hooks to the tension-lock couplings at both ends.

This sort of thing?

If you decide to use Screw Couplings (will be very expensive) or 3 links. You will need to consider the Radius of your Points. If you use LGB R1 then Buffer Locking will be a real and serious problem. How do I know this? I used them in 0 Gauge and had to make special arrangements on both Points and Curves.

Thanks for your answers so far people..... O0
What I am after however is more for cosmetic purposes as apposed to using realistically.... as in the detail packs you would get with 00 or n-gage loco's if that makes sense to anyone.... :-\

I use fishing swivels in a T shape with a small split shot sinker on the T part to simulate that type of coupler.

I use them in conjunction with a link and pin coupling method, I have found that if a wagon de rails and falls on its side then there is not the domino effect for the adjoining wagons.

I'll have a rummage around and see if I can get a picture of what I use for you.

Well done Gavin. Better to get the right solution in the end!

Ok Dune, whatever you want and it appears to be Cosmetic Skrew Couplings (though I fail to understand why) you will find them for perhaps Gauge 1 or 3 depending on your needs. Neither will be cheep.

However with a little ingenuity, some brass wire from old mains wire and some small brass or steel threaded rod you could Bodgle what you need for not a lot of costs. Over to you.

This a link where you will find Gauge 1 Couplings

GRS do them for Gauge 3

Thanks so far, I do however know someone with a 3D printer..... Maybe ask them ta do one as a favour. ;)
They are only needed as I have stated to be the same as you would get in a detailing pack on '00' locos so should not be such a stretch after re- scaling...

Cheers Andy.
