After a recent weekend in Prague, we decided to make an effort to find Vytopna, a bar where drinks are served by a massive g scale railway, complete with table sidings, lifting bridges, ponds and one hell of a track plan. If you get chance.... GO! Turns out they have a few in Czech Republic too, Brno for example. When the trains are running at speed along the 'main' lines they benefit from some sort of metal wheel that runs in a trough at each side of the track to stop the wagons rocking too much with the important cargo.

Must be so tempting to change the points and divert more beer to your own table!

The photos do not really do it justice, there is a lot more pub/track than on these pics, but I felt a bit awkward trying to take photos when people were eating etc.DSC_0014.JPG DSC_0017.JPG DSC_0089.JPG DSC_0098.JPG DSC_0099.JPG DSC_0117.JPG

That's great !! I suspect that someone must be a dispatcher, otherwise how would an order get to the correct table ?

There are satalite computers everywhere, and as I could work out, the waitress takes your order at the table, pops to a computer which sends the order to the bar. Then the barman does the drinks, puts them on the next available consist, and does something on the computer, which tells the train which table to go to, but it is fully automatic otherwise, trains stopping at your table for one min, before going back to the bar.

We are off to Prague at the beginning of December, could you pm with the details of where the bar is Duncan?
EDIT...found the web page and public transport details, address etc
Will book a table...is there any place that is better to sit at, in the restaurant, to get the experience?

How amazing is that.

I have been given permission by SWMBO to have a short length of track on the Christmas table to convey condiments etc but this takes things to a whole new dimension. Maybe yo-sushi could replace their conveyor belt system with something like this.

I'm not really a pub goer but with table service like that I'm in
Shirley you mean "I'm Inn" :D
Just love that great, long girder bridge :inlove: but (and keep it to yourselves) I still prefer a buxom barmaid :mask: oh wait, I married one :giggle:

I worked in the coal mines around Ostrava (Czech Rep ) for a couple of years not so long ago and would visit a bar with a similar set-up. It also ran outside to serve customers in the beer garden.
