Decided to re-post this here as it's more relevant (mods could you delete the other post in Full Scale Railways?)
.
Just been browsing some Gn15 links and came across this video of the 'Stamping Ground' layout in NZ - I seem to remember this featured on the GSM forum at some point. Some really interesting G scale modelling.

And how about this German feldbahn layout for detail!?

Mind you. I think I'd prefer something with a bit more operating potential for an indoor micro layout

Very nicely observed.
Having an interest in French n.g. I also looked at the attached videos from the French show. In particular I liked the spiral layout ("from the port to the high altitude terminus").

I had the pleasure of spending a day helping operate the "Stamping Ground". What fun I had, the day just flew past. A lot of the animation is manually operated, nice and simple but oh so clever. Glen, the owner building is one clever and decent chap to boot.

Intrigueing as your featured videos are, they pale when compared to your Peckforton Railway!!!!
A truly remarkable work that looks as if it has been achieved without throwing money at it.
Your blog is one of the most, perhaps the most informative pieces I have ever seen about the hobby.!!!!!!
Definitely required reading for both newcomers and old hands alike.
I have bookmarked it for future reference!
One thing though how do you get the sound, particularly the ambient train noises??????
Aw geee! Too kind!

I lifted the sounds from various videos, mostly shot on the Welshpool and Llanfair then then spent a while trying to match the right sounds to the video clips. I used a couple of freebie programs to help with the editing - http://www.any-video-converter.com/download-avc-free.php < Link To Any Video Converter to grab the soundtracks off the videos converted to MP3 - and then http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ < Link To Audacity to do things like changing the speed of the sound-clip to match the video.
