Happy as a dog with two Dinglers.... (and a Heidi!)

It's like Christmas.... or buses, or something..... two lovely things turned up today, one by Special Delivery and the other by FedEx!

One was a second-hand Heidi via evilBay, absolutely gorgeous condition including expertly-done replacements for the horrid bendy plastic handrails with nice brass ones - which makes an already pretty loco look SO much better. Buying this was the reason I sold my 100 Jahre Lehmann train at the start of the week, I don't get so much Domestic Stress if I sell something to buy something else! ;)

The other thing, which was kind of a late Birthday pressie to myself (and why else did God make credit cards?) is the Wurttemburg Ts3 0-6-0 in the original green livery, posing next to Heidi in the pics! Getting one of these to go with my DR black version of the same loco was bit of an extravagance, I know, but when I found that the supplier had one of the green ones up for grabs I just couldn't resist it, and if I'd turned it down I'd have regretted it a lot.

The Heidi is factory-MTS already but I've got an S unit on order from Mark (GRO) to make her sound as good as she looks, and an LS with Frank S sound files is also on order for the Ts3. I've learned a couple of important lessons from chipping the DR black one a few weeks ago (such as the fact that the ****ing bulbs are only 3 volt...!! :@) so the decoder install in the green one should be a lot easier and probably neater too.

I think the two locos look really nice posed together in the pics, the liveries are SLIGHTLY different greens (though closer to the naked eye than they look in the photos) but they will make two excellent additions to the loco stable, so I'm quite chuffed today!

I should think you are - a lovely pair indeed!

Nice one Jon....

Phwoar!!!
Really, really nice locos. Nice one guv'nor.

You do realise you have just ruined my Christmas? :crying:
Absolutely drop-dead gorgeous and totally against the ten commandments (greed, jealousy, desire etc), they should keep you smiling for quite some time

Hmmm - happy as a dog with two dinglers - I shall rmember that one !!

Those two loco's look really cool together - enjoy! :)

Jon two LOVELY engines, I saw the Heidi, and hovered over the 'buy it now' last week - but wavered as it's way off my usual stock. Great buy, and you're right, those handrails did really set it off beautifully. The Dingler looks even better in green to be honest, than the black one, so wow, I guess you've won the lottery, robbed a bank or sold a hell of a lot of LGB :D

Look forward to seeing these out in the garden soon? :)

I have to concur; In fact I said the same thing to "Trousers" some time back...........................about the two Moorcroft vases she's just bought.:rolf:

You must've been looking at a different Heidi, James, I don't think this one was ever on a Buy It Now option - it had a highish (but fair) start price, and I was the only bidder so that's what I got it for!

Yes, now I have them both I think I prefer the green Ts3, though I still like my black one and have no plans to sell it. ;)

Re your speculations on the funding, no, it's none of your guesses (though the last one is partly correct on the Heidi, as I mentioned in the original post!) - just used the ol' plastic to get something when it came up, rather than passing it up and regretting forever.
A green Ts3 sold on German ebay a few weeks back, in well used condition, for almost £500 more than I've just paid for my brand new one - so I don't think I will ever lose money on it.

They will be out in some gardens at various local open days soon - but not in my own for a while till we have enough decent weather for me to get on with track-laying.....

Jon.

£330? You might be right Jon, it was definitely the same one, I didn't glance long, too tempting! Track laying in the garden sounds very exciting though :) keeps you out of the way of the wife when she sees the bill :D

a great set off locos, enjoy them,

If anyone else really, really wants one of the Ts3's, in either green or black, drop me a PM and I can put you in touch with the person who has (I believe) one or two left in the UK.....
They are not cheap, but neither are they as expensive as you might imagine - in fact considerably less than some current LGB offerings!

Jon.

I dredged up two in Germany, one at ?2990 and the other at ?1500 although the second one was a seller with 2 (:@) points. Both are black, and I personally find the green more sexy. Oops 8|
Good heavens, that was close, SWMBO came in and looked over my shoulder as I was typing the above :nail::nail:

If I tell you that even after buying the brand-new loco AND a sound decoder for it, I still had change out of a Grand, you will see why I couldn't pass it over when they are reselling for the sort of money you mention..... ;)

You have got a lovely pair.

Why, thank you, kind sir..... ;)

Though if you add that they are both black and green, it's a bit more disturbing.... Nurse! The screens!!

Jon.

Might these be seen on Beaver Creek this Sunday Jon? It wouldn't be the same if you didn't get your dinglers out.....

Well.....Due to precocious precipitation whenever I had the time to work on the layout and the peculiar siting of the where the new track work was going to go under, through and around bushes etc, I haven't done that, but reballasting, where the flooding took it away, has commenced and will (?) be finished as will the repair to one corner using the plastic planking siding to replace rotten log roll. Also the option of DCC (Massoth 1200Z) will be enabled for the mainline as well as the usual DC TE and hopefully the 4 loco, 14 stockcar train will be up and running as well as other unusual bits and bobs. Have also sorted recalcitrant couplers, dips in track where I stood on it with force, dodgy control box....

So in a nutshell...no ....but fun will be had by all....at my expense I do not doubt...:rolf:
