Hartland Loco Works and ACW figures

Does anyone know of a current UK stockist for Hartland products, and/or a source of 1/24th ACW military figures suitable for the great outdoors? Some lovely ones pictured in "Garden Railways" last August fired my imagination but the US model soldier supplier I contacted was unable to suggest a source. They were however aware that there is a demand.

I'm not sure if Schleich do some military figures as part of their "Western" range? They may well do some US Cavalry and such, OK, that's slightly later than ACW but there might be some conversion potential?

Many good-sized toyshops stock the range, including Toys'R'us, and SP Models (Snetterton) has almost everything they make, along with other German brands like Bully, Bruder and Papo - all of which are around the right size.

I would definitely look for toys rather than "collectable" model soldiers - the latter, even if available in the right scale (most of them being more like 1/32 or 54mm) would be phenomenally expensive per figure.

Back2Bay6 has done HLW stuff?

Might be worth giving Steve a call....

Thanks, folks.
Schleich Wild West are no longer available, but I do have a couple of their figures and a chuck wagon. Given the cost of making the moulds, I'm hoping they'll be back in due course - a couple of retailers I've spoken to think it's likely. I'll look at the other makers mentioned and I'll also check out the potential Hartland suppliers. I like the "character" of their steam locos, some of which could also be ACW period with a bit of artistic licence.
Cheers.

PS Nothing from the suggested manufacturers. I might try Googling "75mm" for the figures but that tends to mean white metal which may not be suitable.

I'm pretty sure that SP Models DO have some suitably-sized Wild West models on the shelves in the store (or at least they did on my last visit a couple of months back), whether they are Schleich old stock, Papo or another brand I'm afraid I can't clearly recall. Their website isn't a great deal of help on this, the Papo Wild West page seems inaccessible. However I'd say it is worth giving the store itself a phone call; if they do say they have some, a day trip out to visit the place is quite worthwhile - even take the family along, it's probably the biggest toy/model shop in the UK and well worth a lengthy browse....

E-mailed them - nothing apparently in stock.

Fair enough, was worth a try. Next time I go over there I'll have a look anyway, the place is so vast that sometimes I wonder if they know themselves exactly what they do and don't have.... ;)

And I'm not sure that they quite grasp scales, either. They seem to think that Schleich 3.5"/85 mm humans are 1/16th...

Pickett's Charge look reasonable but a bit "off topic" for a garden railway, unless we are back to the quiet little war between Southern Bavaria and Colorado (sorry, I'm reporting on that elsewhere as we speak)
Dum-de-dum. Hello, Nurse. What's that nasty-looking syringe for? Oh, just my flu jab. Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrgh!

Kalamazoo trains use to make a real nice Civil War train set with figures and cannons. They made a North and south. Everyone so often they come up on e-bay but they usually go for big $$$$$. I have been trying to pick a set up but not willing to pay the price tag. I know HLW took Kalamazoo over. I heard that they might bring tat set back. Of course its all rumors at this point.

Thanks for the info. I expected that I might get more info from the US and you haven't disappointed me. I'll keep my eyes open.
