Can anyone tell me the height and clearances of rolling stock such as these:

Ive based my tunnels and bridges on my playmobil loco and coach but Ive a nasty feeling that 16mm stuff is bigger.
Any recommendations for tunnel and cutting clearances? Ive used decking planks as my standard width clearance on straights.

Cheers

This particuar loco is magnificent and huge - one of the biggest there is. I was tempted to order one until I saw it at a show and appreciated just how large it is. From memory the width is approx 135 mm (about 30 mm more than most LGB locos) and the overhang on curves is substantial. In practice you will need openings of about 8 inches high and wide to accommodate this loco and large radius curves. However if you can modify your layout to suit it is a lovely thing - a friend has one and he is well pleased with it.

Thanks.

Its actually there rolling stock I was trying to link to, but the link goes to its contents.
It is a lovely loco, far to big (and expensive) for me.
I love the W&L or L@B replica stock.

8" sounds like a good figure to work to, Im off into the garden to lay more track bed.

8" will be enough for most LGB, Accucraft, Bachmann etc unless you are running something like a Bachmann K27 in which case you will need to add another 1/2" to that or you will lose the spark arrestor. I did!

Thanks.
Its the width Im particularly concerned about as i have a very narrow part between a wall and a rose bush.
Height I can modify.
Will look closely at the L&B stock.

Measuring my locos:-
Edrig footplate is 115mm wide.
Caradoc & Ragleth are similar.
Wrekin footplate is 117mm.
Wrekin & Lawley stand 155mm tall from rail to cab roof centre.

Brake van 12cm wide at the running boards. These project 8cm forward of the axle centres.

Its the overhang at corners that get you - and remember, you will probably have friends stock running sooner or later. They will always bring something odd just to cause hassle!

for clearances on my line i use a house brick, for tunnels a house brick laid on its end gives sufficient height for stock to clear, and lengthways on the rail gives suitable clearance either side of the rails. I maybe should point out that my small curves are 10ft so if you go smaller the width clearance will grow a little.
