Hello there,
Welcome to the Forum..

Look's to be about four-foot square (1200mm or 1.2m in new money)?

We need a little more information, really..

How thick it is? - This will determine what size framework you will need under it.

Going to exhibitions: So I assume it will be modular, in some way?

Presumably, it will not be kept/used outside? - So plywood should be OK.

You also need to consider how big each module will be.
How you will build any scenery, and whether the modules will have scenery/buildings permanently on them. - This will give an idea of the weight of each module. Whether it can be a 'one-person' lift, and an idea of how the modules can be stacked/transported.

What is your modelling experience?
How will you transport the layout?
Where will you store it?
How will you support it?
Have you thought about the size of the loco's and stock? - You would be amazed how much room it all takes!

Hello, the seller has said 4x4 11mm thick and my model experience is new but I learn quick and would transport in a car or van, will be stored in my shed and I think I’m ready for it, it’s my dream to do so am ready ☺️

11mm is plenty thick enough! - It will be heavy, by the time you have a framework underneath..

There are those on this Forum who have built/exhibit, and they will probably chip-in..

If you have deep pockets. A 7.5 tonne lorry with tail-lift. A couple of pallet-trucks, and a team of (at least) 12 persons....
You can end up with something like this:

That lot now lives permanently in the 'loft' of that station..

I remain to be convinced that they are 4ft square, more like 2’6’ to 3’ as they are next to what looks like 2’ paving slabs. But still good value so go for em. 11mm thick would do nicely for framing with 5 or so mm ply for the surface, cut the 11mm into 2 inch or 3 inch wide strips. If you do not have a circular saw bench try to find someone who has to cut them neat for you.

Wood is wood, and the question you should ask yourself is "will it do what I want", with the price of wood it is ONLY a good deal if you are going to use it.
