I have purchased an IP Engineering Feanor 0-4-0 Loco kit (something to amuse in these winter nights).As I have a spare transmitter and receiver that I removed from my Lady Ann I thought I would like to convert this model the to RC. I have looked at a couple of blogs showing how this is done, but I am still a bit confused !!
First the kit comes with a 2AA battery pack, which isn't going to set the world alight! Looking at the blog they appear to have changed it to a 4AA battery pack without changing the motor, can this be done ?
Next which ESC do I need , I have looked at micro Loco ESC's ,these are 4.8 to 12v ? The main question is to use this do I need to upgrade the motor?
Thanks in advance,
Geoff

Ivan's motors are usually man enough to take 4.8v, so that should be OK.

I've used a micro Viper ESC (if that's the one you're thinking of) and they're fairly small and mine works well.

I suspect that your long winter nights are going to be occupied with how you can fit it all in to the tiny space :mm::mm::mm:

Go for it :clap::clap::clap::clap:

You might like to look at my thread on converting an LGB Loco to Battery, will give you some idea on some of the basics even if a different set up to the one you are planning. There are also others on the Battery Threads that may be similar to yours.
