I recently bought 4 LGB track magnets on line but I didn't get any instructions on how to mount them in order to activate the whistle or bell. I'm also running a PIKO mogul on another loop and bought four magnets. Those came with instructions for orientation. Please Help.

Hello Jack,

The magnet is normally under the moulded 'LGB' logo.

If it is positioned on the left (in direction of travel) it will normally sound the whistle, and if it is placed on the right, the bell will normally sound.

Of course, if using DCC, then any of the available sounds could be triggered by the switches.

This is how they mount, they clip under the webb below the rail. LGB mark one side bell, other side whistle if locos equipped.

Happy Jack , I had the same question about 17050, my answer is here :

All the LGB engines I have seen have the left rail for bell and right rail for horn/whistle. And the LGB magnet is made for LGB track and may not fit in others and it wil 'pop' out and cause derailments. I prefer to use a short sheet rock screw in the tie and glue a magnet to it. Why the glue...keeps magnet from 'jumping' to a piece of metal.
