Here's Some Good News for Bachmann Owners !

Don Gilham

Model railways, Photography, anything lazy
I know people will look back with 20/20 vision and say that Bachmann screwed up with their plastic gears in the first place, but fair play to them for recognising the problem and doing something about it. The re-design they've done on the Baldwin 2-4-2 is exceptional - especially considering the price they're turning them out at.

The metal gear replacements will literally fly out of Bachmann's door

you know,
i know this is 'cup half empty ' mentality
but after my first run shay, and having to spend $120 to have replacement trucks becuase the originals were such a disaster
this is THE SAME TYPE OF PROBLEM

i do get tired of seeing that BECAUSE of bachmans lack of engineering -or simply econpmy-this is what it takes to get your $300+ locomotive to work properly

sorry but this kind of thing irks me no end-its not that difficult to produce a serviceable, reliable, long lasting model locomotive

otoh its great that guys dont have to have a $300 shelf decoration
rant over

I agree with everything you say Steve - but perhaps this is a step in the right direction. The models themselves are very good.
