Hi all.
I was doing a bit of track laying this afternoon when a mate of mine call in. He noticed I was have trouble hold the tap easily (I have had a small stroke) and he made this suggestion. Attach it to a spare Aristo screw driver with a small wire connector. AS Photo. works well. ;)

a very good idea. Did you see my suggestion about using the tap. One full turn in, and half a turn out - continue until the tap runs smoothly

I hold my tap in a pinchuck.
As well as Alan's wise tip one full turn in, half out, I tried on the recent ones I've been doing to adding a lazy man's cutting oil on the tap before starting to thread each hold. Lazy man's cutting oil you ask? Hmm well a drop of spittle on my finger then wipe onto the tap. Seems to make a it slightly easier than without or it could quite well be just my imagination ??? Just don't wipe your finger afterwards on SWMBO, no imagination would be needed for the results of that :o

We used to use sheep fat - tallow.

Since spittle contains a lot of water you will need to remove it before storing your tap. Rust on a small tool like this would be fatal (to the tool).

Cheers,
Peter.

Damn it I'm always getting water on my small tool.......................................I do the same thing when I'm in a hurry only I just pop the tap in my mouth.
