John Campbell's Worked His Magic With My K-27

Dropped off my Accucraft live steam K-27 with John Campbell the other day for him to fit radio control to the loco as i had trouble chasing the loco when it was manually controlled some might remember my first run round my line on You Tube . So i now have a loco that is Radio controlled using a Spektrum DX4 2.4Ghz , John also programmed another receiver for me to use on the Accucraft C-16 Bumble Bee so i now can use the Spektrum on both loco's
At the same time John also made a few improvements like replacing the clear sight glass with one with a thin red stripe that looks thicker when filled with water this is a big help as i have trouble seeing the water level with the cab roof in place and running at ground level .
Then john really worked his magic by fitting one of his Chuff pipes  On the test run we had it sounded fantastic really made a differance when climbing my grades  will get some shots on film next time it's in steam but first have to iron out a few humps in my track work as tree roots have lifted parts and the loco's pony truck was derailing :wits:
So many thanks to John for all his great work  i now have a loco that i can sit back and control and hear round the garden

BRILLIANT video urgently required!!

Hi Ian
Can't wait to get her in steam  have made a start on my track work just need to relay the part that crosses the path then just need a nice sunny day

That looks a very neat and clever installation. I like the battery/reciever box in the tender. Can't wait to see a video of it running with that cheff pipe fitted.

Had my K-28 done recently. 1) Battery and receiver stowed under the cab with switch next to blow-down valve 2) Servos and and charging point mounted drivers side in the cab (where else !) 3) A a neat quick release connect fitted on the water refill pipe to make separation on tender and loco a little less time consuming.

Had a quick run round the garden. All seems fine. Anything slightly sub 4ft radius and the tender needs to go on the farthest point on the link bar from the loco. You say you are negociating R3's with your K-27, how do you have the tender set ?

Hi Max
Your radio gear looks very neat under the cab would have not even thought of that idea , does look as if you have more room under the rear pony truck than i do on the K-27 as your pony truck can swing where the K-27 slides from side to side i also notice you have a water pump in the tender is this standard with the K-28 .
Had the loco in steam tonight sorry no film as i couldn't control the loco and film at the same time looked and sounded fantastic pulled 5 Accucraft freight cars with ease blowing off several times round my R3 curves and grades had no trouble with the rear truck derailing now that i have relaid the track across the path .

K-28 has a hand pump in the tender as standard.
I think my loco is going to need a little fettling as a legacy of using too thick a grade of steam oil initially. It has been a little sluggish on its last 2 runs and was proving a bit reluctant on the rollers this morning. Ho hum.
Max.
