I have heard of SCARM several times in my travels, but never tried it. It is great, easy to use, free and includes all the G-scale track pieces I have ever heard of. I think the best feature is the 3D viewer, especially when you have multiple layers and want to hide fiddle yards with buildings. Here's an example of what I am planning:

You can get SCARM here:http://www.scarm.info/index.php
Now if you could just press and button and get it to build it for you... :-)

I've never had a track plan in my life. When I started the CFR it was all trial and error, dig out a bit here, lay some track there see how it goes. Great fun and an adventure.

Ah, you'd never get away with that now Casey....

Cost benefit analysis. Method statements. Hazard assessments and the like..
:p;);):giggle:

Hmmm, it appears that SCARM is only available for Windoze machines..... I don't suppose there is a version anywhere for those of us who use Macs?

Jon.

Yes, that would work I guess..... would be nice to have had a native version though! ;)

The Scarm site has an FAQ related to running on a Mac

And a linked blog:

Looks like your best bet is to run it on Windows under Mac using Parallels.
Other people have used Wine (no jokes please) but there is a problem with the 3D viewer which is the best part of the tool IMHO.
