So I have weird problem. I have a LG&B set I have always set I have always used as a Christmas train around the tree. I decided to run it outside on my backyard railway. I wanted to add some cars to make the train a bit longer. I also purchased a tender to add more pulling power. It's not a match for the set but black and red and should work fine....except the couper has no hook. My locomotive does not either. I'm wondering if there is some kind of conversion I can use to fix this problem. I can run the tender backwards but it doesn't look right of course. Any help would be appreciated.

The "coupler" on the red 2117D locos is removable so you should be able to fit a standard LGB hook and centring spring to it with not too much creative hacking.

If your coaches or other rolling stock have hooks at both ends, you could borrow one to fit to the tender until you can get a spare, it is literally just one screw.

If all else fails a bent paper clip can be brought into use, standard fare for emergency coupling used by 16mm live steam guys.

There is a kit at Trainli in the USA (LGB-22150-M014 Sound Tender Kit) and has all the parts needed for 2 types of coupler conversions. New LGB tenders came with a kit of parts as one removed the Stainz coupler and added the parts in the tender kit. The large plate was for the American Stainz to enable the engineer to walk to the tender coal bin.
