Sergio,

The relationship of LGB to scale has been lamented as being very flexible for decades. There seemed to be a striving for product conformity and operational effectiveness rather than strict adherence to a specific scale. I can tell you that the 2055 is 630 mm in length and conforms well to other LGB motive power and freight and passenger stock. The scale is definitely NOT 1:29, more in the 1:24-26 range I would guess. It is a powerful, smooth running piece of equipment. Hope this helps, and Season's greetings!

Thank you Arthur... i try to see a diagram of this locomotive to have an idea of the real dimensions but i didn´t succeed.....´

As a 3ft Gauge Engine the scale should be in the region of 1:20 or 15mm to the foot. But the LGB Flexible ruler will indeed have been used as at he proper Scale it would dwarf most European Narrow Gauge (NG) Models as releases in 1:20 have shown. So to fit in with other LGB Locomotives assuming that they are NG ones it will be fine.

Going by the WP&L diesel loco list here:
http://wpyr.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/dieselspecificationstable.html

... I presume the LGB model 2055 of loco #110 represents a DL353E type? Google search for "Alco DL353E dimensions" led me to this folder of specs:
http://wpyphotos.com/diesel/DL535Especs/

... of which the last jpg seems to give various dimensions, though it's not easy to read unless you magnify the image:

Slight thread-drift warning!

Have you seen the new LGB American outline diesel offering? - What were they on, when they came up with that?!!!

Scale is wrong.. Body is wrong..
Not good at all.

You mean 25556 the ONT "SD 40"? Oh dear. What's the point of producing such an aberration? At least in WP&Y guise it looks something like the intended prototype.

Well......i guess with the demise of aristo, ro, and other us prototype makers, there will be someone somewhere that simply accepts "close...kinda". It is a requirement for many of us lgb buyers.

I presume little if any new tooling, but i havent seen the lgb model. I did see the SP version with the dynamic brake roof housing. If one wants tonrun US standard gauge, well, theres one choice, if indeed a fantasy or characature.

It would seem to be between 1.22 and 1.20 - depending on where you measure from (inside or over the couplings - as in knuckle couplings).

Hello to all...

THANK YOU so much for all your coments.... i just bought the locomotive and i hope that will arrive soon..... i can deal with the scale trammayo said.... but if it was 1/29 it is a big difference between all LGB locomotives that i have... it is funny because i just fall in love with G scale 2 months ago.... i am into H0 scale since i know me.... that´s why i ask this questions so i can learn..... i never thought that there were so many scales in G scale.... LOL

One again Thank you all

Best regards from Belgium,

Sergio

Yes it is the White Pass (drawing just before your post) one reliveried. They did the same thing with the 2-8-2 tender loc issueing it in various liveries. Thankfully they have not tried to make the Harz 2-10-2 look like a 9f by leaving 2 wheels off and adding a USA Tender. But who knows for the future?

So far as I can see Ro (or USA Trains) are still going.

1:29 standard gauge locos look ok with larger scale narrow gauge stock because they are all about the same height and width. Its only the larger Bachmann locos that look way bigger.

My mistake, i know some have gone under, but i dont model standard gauge.

atelier, your new loco is beautiful. Not certain, but i believe it it close to 1:22. It looks great with other LGB stock. It pulls well and runs on R1 radius with ease. WPY stock is becoming a bit more difficult to find, at least on US ebay.

Have fun and enjoy! Happy new year too!

The "foobies" that came after the correct WP diesel were actualy ideas that LGB got from other modelers. Back when this model came on the market, There was little to no USA prototype diesels. So modelers in the USA took the White Pass DL535E and made up thier own "what if" diesels with more EMD like long hood with an Alco cab and trucks. The DRGW, Santa Fe ect that had the SD40 like long hood were the result and called the Queen Mary series by LGB after the huge show held on the great ship where the custom models were first seen by Wolfgang Richter. They came right out and said they were fantisy models and they sold well since there wasnt anything yet on the market to compete. Good looking Alco, they are great models, and pull well, even with the center axles being unpowered. Mike
