LGB 2080s....motor slipping....grinding noise, gears worn.

Hi all,

I have a lovely old 2080s and the motor has just started to slip a little. I've popped the chassis off to find as expected the main gears on the axles have just started to wear a little.

There are two gears on each of the forward and rear axle, it is the ones that sit on an angle that have started to wear; I've looked on a plan and I'm pretty sure its part 55 I need(although this isn't shown as a gear, I can't see which else it could be.)

Does anyone know a good place for spares, and any advice on changing this part. I'd love to give this loco a new lease of life, as my little one loves the sound! (and dad does)

Thanks all

Phil

Are you sure it's not part 54 Phil?

A photo would help.

Chalk Garden Rail are the authorised LGB agent for spares in the UK....

If Chalk can't help do an internet search for LGB 62007. They are described as Mogul idler gears but they will fit the 2080 loco.

Thanks Neil,

I did see the Mogul gears on Chalks spares page and thought they looked remarkably similar to the one I need!
Do both gears come as one part then?
Does £8 for each axle sound about right; seems quite steep for a little plastic gear.

I wouldn't like to try to make it for that price though!;)
