I had five #2095 models from the very earliest, 1973, up until the mid-1980's (only two left now), most with the clamshell drive block. All ran as smooth as silk. Do not disregard these early models as they are easy to convert to four wire for DCC and basically nothing to remove, electrically. Loco lighting is very basic, although a friend inserted multiple 3mm led's into the clear styrene lighting fixture at each end and achieved very realistic results.
Unlike the continent, there was/is little demand for these downunder when listed on eBay.
