Many thanks, now I know the ones I missed. Will look again with my headlight.! gep4

How do you find your E10, Brought one a couple of month's ago, have so far only run it for 10 minute's but it seem's ok I was inpressed with the finish and the running on what is a budget priced loco

My E10 has had a couple of hours of running and runs smoothly even at slow speeds with a reasonable load. I'll check out the new drive when it's available but it won't be an essential buy for me.

I have not been able to run my LGB E.10 outside yet. But seems smoothe and quiet on rollers and a short run on my garage track.
The only thing I have found is a slight whine I think from the motors. Has anyone else noticed this, is it just normal noise from a different make of motor.?
My problem at my age of 80 is it is very heavy for me to carry in its loco box into the garden, must be over 10 lbs in total.
I was thinking if I remove the body are there two seperate weights each end ? So that I can remove one each end, probably the outer ones as I will be pulling only three LGB bogie coaches or light weight wagons due to lengths of my passing loops.
Look forward to advice and comments please.

From limited experience..
Yes, it is 'noisy' compared with other LGB stock. - Different motors, and a different configuration.

The weights are there for a reason. - Traction mainly.
IF I were you, I would remove the inner weight. *Check this next bit* From memory, only the outer axle of each power-bogie is actually driven.. So I would leave the weight over the driven axle. - You can check this on rollers, or by running very slowly and lifting one axle off the track.

any body weight will be transferred down vertically through the bogie pivots so i don't think it makes much difference to traction where the weights are removed. Might effect stability though!

Success! At last I have been able to run my LGB E 10 in the garden today.
Very pleased to say it runs as quiet and smoothe as any other LGB loco.
I did take the precaution of putting a small amount of LGB grease on the gears, as they looked dry.
After a little running in, in both directions, I added eight of J.Prescott's tankers !
All my track is raised and pretty level. It took the load very easily at varying speeds and in both directions.
I think my next buy will be the green version, with the standard LGB bogie design. Order placed!
.In view of the results today I have decided not to remove any weights at present , I will have to be careful how I carry it.
