LGB Set 70700 Continental Classic Express

Sold for 1245 GBP
(inc. 0 GBP donated to website)
Selling my continental classic set in presentation case. Set includes:

1 x Brown Mallet
2 x Brown Continental Express coaches
1 x box of R3 curves (12 in total)
1 x box of 300mm straights (12 in total)
8 x 300mm straights (unboxed)
1 x track magnet
1 set of track clips
1 x 50110 power pack
1 x 50170 controller
Wooden case housing all of the above (case splits into 2 parts, lower part has castors; very heavy!)

Set acquired second-hand 6 years ago and loco has been chipped for DCC running. Loco has had fairly light use over past couple of years due to health issues.

Due to weight and size of case buyer would need to collect from my home in Hertfordshire or specify a particular courier and accept associated charges.

In addition, I have 2 x 32650 brown Flèche d'or coaches which I've used to make up a 4 coach train as I think this looks better than running just the 2 coaches provided in the 70700 set. These are available for sale with the set so please contact me for details.

That's a beautiful set. I'm glad I don't live in the UK so I can't be tempted. However, I'd be interested in more pictures of the storage case or information about it. I have some rolling stock I'd like to store/display and that case looks like it might be just what I need. Thanks and good luck with your sale.

Lovely set, how much are you asking?

Ooops….sorry, just seen the price…..I’m blind!

Quite a drive from Switzerland. And I've never driven on 'the wrong side'
Remains tempting.
But then it has to be flown home to BC, driven to Kaslo ...

I have in the past used UPS to ship large and unwieldy items from Texas to the UK but they were more robust than a model railway set. The service in terms of adherence to schedule and no damage on arrival was good but it wasn’t cheap. I have a friend who makes custom carcasses for moving props about for the film industry so maybe he can create something to ship this set in. Doesn’t reduce the courier costs but at least it brings the use of a courier into consideration.

Yes, been thinking how one would have to package the 'porcelane' :-]
I shipped both ways before between Switzerland and Canada , both directions. Costs have risen over the last 15 years quite dramatically.
