LGB Tram Route Display

Too much of a good thing is nearly enough.

I am slowly gathering a small fleet of LGB trams. I found I couldn't live with the blue printed ' Chlorodont' advertisement on the side hoardings so I have printed and fitted my own route boards for the two tram services that operated in my home town of Lowestoft.

Incidentally does anyone know if the HLW Inter-urbans are stocked by anyone in this country? I would like to eventually have one with pantographs. Dragon has them listed, but all out of stock.

I'm not sure about 'in stock', but Sandy Taylor, Scottish Garden Railways, has always said that he can get them. I think there are issues with availability, and actually dealing with HLW.

I imported one of the HLW Bogie Trams from the US when the Dollar was at an advantageous rate a year or three ago. However I was disappointed with it as the Scale is nearer to 1:32 and it just did look too small to work well with the LGB Trams. I am busy making a new body for it, turned out to be an expensive chassis to scratch build with.

Thanks for the warning JonD, I was going by the photos and they look superb. Not seen one in real life.
I will have to try for the far more expensive LGB Streetcar then for my InterUrban needs.

I had one of these HLW Interurbans a few years ago.
Bought it from Germany - from this site:-

Very helpful and reasonable p+p rates.

The motor bogie soon went intermittent - design & workmanship not good - phoned HLW - complete waste of time - I could have a replacement if I paid for it up front.
Fitted a USA Trains m/bogie - too high - I gave up and advertised it honestly on the old forum.
Some brave soul bought it - can't remember who?

David

Sorry about pic size

Hi Syd, the Hartland trams are not as robust as the LGB trams, and are slightly smaller in size. The Thomas Pearley New Orleans cars are superb I have modified mine with working trolley poles; as my system has live overhead. Alyn ps The destination box is from a City of Birmingham tram the fully working blind is dated 1930. Best of luck with the ebay punt.
