LGB trams

tramcar trev

all manner of mechanical apparatus...
I'm assuming these can be run with power supplied via the pantograph? A chap has one he is prepared to sell at mates rates. Me thinks it would be a good tram to make into a scrubber car....

Your assumption is correct. There is a switch, inside of the passenger compartment, that allows track or catenary power pick up.

Trev, just be sure it is not the Koln one with the Number 438 side, colour is Green and a Sludgy Creme. This is the DCC Chipped one that will not work in the same way. In fact LGB always stated that you should not use Overhead Power with DCC Fitted Electrics. Now this is not strictly true, but they do need a major rewire job

This one is Yellow with LGB on the side I think. Skate pickup that will if I buy it be modified into scrubbing brushes and the return will be via the wheels.

Just remember the LGB system can be track-powered, so return is ONE rail only..

Just thinking if your system is totally overhead, and you use BOTH rails for the return.
Your mileage may vary, as they say! :)

That will be fine then, I have a Yellow one or two. Also some of the Trailer Cars. In fact I went overboard some time back on collecting LGB Trams and have pretty well all of the Production Series except the Pink Manner one, I just could not bring myself to buy one. Also the latest Red and Creme one is not in my collection. It is just too much money for the Plastic. I may get one if I see one at a decent 2nd Hand Price.

Yes, I expect to be writing a full report on the modifications, all wheels will be able to return the negative to the rails..... unlike JonD who has obviously deep pockets to buy and own LGB trams new I'm still debating whether or not to buy this one....

Go for it, Trev....I've got a few and they are great. You can convert to overhead pick-up with both running rails as the common return in a five minute job with the soldering iron. Alyn ;D ;D ;D

I actually got most of them at good knock down prices from Ebay Germany when the Euro was very low. Since we have had a Government(s) that has devalued the Pound by some 20% since the Euro came in, they are now beyond my Pocket. Hence I have not got one of the newest ones. I also sold many items on Ebay to get enough dosh for the ones that I wanted. Good luck if you decide to get one Trev, they are really very nice.
