No they don't Mr 38th.

I've fitted mine under my Matra Crane Wagon.

Zerogee has a couple of wagons up for sale on which I believe you would be able to fit these though?

A PM to him will confirm this is the case....

They fit onto most of the orginal 1970's and 80's design of coaches and wagons (not hoppers or tankers) as they all have the same length chassis.

I am not entirely sure that you can fit them to the 'Play Train' range. They do appear to fit most of the mid length range vehicles, measure distance between the Axle Guards. This should be around 13.5cm. If it is there should be a skrew on either side holding in a couple of Wagon Straps. If you remobe these the cleaner skrews into their place. Hope this helps,
JonD

Another tip is to add weight to the wagon, a section of lead flashing the size of the floor works a treat!

Just had a look under the short wagons I use on Hardyard, many of which are ex-starter set, and they seem to have a similar chassis to the flat stake wagons you asked about in your opening post.

So Zerogee's wagons won't be suitable for what you need....

i do have one wagon that it fits it is not the easiest of runners, it has metal wheels but they may need some lubricating as they have obviously seen some hard use.

Next question then is what to lubricate with?

cheers

A couple of pic's of the style of wagon the cleaner fits, it doesn't
need a vast amount of load on the top, i have tried it with various
loads and found it better to do more passes over the track than
haul heavy loads.
You should be able to pull it with a Stainz even round R1 curves.
There is usually a plastic tank and levers on the chassis that needs
removing first.

Plenty of weight from just a small rock left over from some building
works (weighs about the same as a 1/2 pint of beer)

The log load is just heavy enough for the cleaner to work

the track cleaner will fit the 4 wheel coaches from starter sets, i have one installed on one

I have fitted one to an LGB tanker. Just have to unscrew the four screws holding the tank on and lift it off, then the brake rigging, compressor stuff in the middle drops right out. then it just srews to the body using the provided holes. Works really well because of the ability to add mass (water) to the tank.

Might be worth a check around to see if one of the Newquida versions are the same if you are on a budget?

Tee Hee, sounds of embarrassed laughter...I have a caboose which has been weighted and has two sprung pads for sale in my Humungous sale.......but not good for a Euro layout of course.

The Matra Crane wagon is the best wagon to use. Perfect weight and the attachment doesn't look out of place under this wagon like it does with some others. It also gives the crane an actual purpose in a maintenance train. Fit with metal wheels for best results as plastic wheels tend to pick up the grime.
