LGB wireless system 55015 controller - not working?

Hi Guys,
Been having a bit of bother on my uncles railway recently. Basically we had an old Aristo crest system (that worked, dead easy to use!) until it got left out in the rain by mistake, never to work again...
Anyway, my uncle spoke to a model shop who advised him to get the LGB system. So we now have the lgb 55015 hand controller (with wireless plug in bit), a 55055 receiver, and a 51070 controller.
Now, I connected it all up, I can get the 51070 controller to control the train no bother. When I connect the receiver to the controller, and turn the wireless controller on, the wireless controller doesn't control the loco on the track. The emergency stop button works ok, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it to control the loco. I've read and re-read the instructions which just don't help at all! We only use it to control one loco on the track, no decoders or anything like that. Am I doing something wrong, or missing something?
Hope someone can help...
Cheers
Steven

No experience of this but....

On the remote, have you selected the track block. Apparently the receiver is by default set to block 1.

To select the track block on the handset...

Press F + 2
The display should show "L--"
Enter 0 then 1

Glad you know these things Mark!!!! :o

Simple things first?

Have you put fresh batteries in the 55015 handset....

Cheers Mark, I'll give that a try! And Gizzy, definitely fresh, took them out the packet

Great!

You didn't specifically mention if you had tried the 55015 handset with the cable?

You might have a faulty 55055 receiver or 55050 transmitter plug in module.

Again I'm asking the simple things first!

And hopefully, although you have fresh batteries, are you sure they are all 1.5 V?

Stranger things have happened....

Gizzy, I did try it with the cable, couldn't even get the handset to turn on. Tried with batteries in, out, nothing at all when wired. I'm back round there on Wednesday night so will try marks suggestion then!
Thanks
Steven

Where did you plug the cable from handset into?

I do not think the handset can operate tethered when acting as a remote for the 51070 analogue throttle.

The remote only works wireless for some reason . Try also putting in #0 as the engine number to make sure it's in anolgue mode.

It seems that the LGB 55015/55016 Remotes only works in 'wireless' mode, and not 'wired/tethered' with the Analogue LGB 51070 controller Steven?

I use mine with MTS2, so I am unfamiliar with how yours is set up, but I know Cogges has used the 55050/55055 transmitter/receiver on his railway at one point, similar to how you have done on your Uncle's set up. I haven't seen Cogges on the forum much recently as he seems to be busy with his work these days.

I've read the pdf files for the 51070
http://www.champex-linden.de/lgb_produktdatenbank_d-e/medien.nsf/medien/BAECE1BF74F5599D8525693100631366/$FILE/51070_022003.pdf
and 55015

on Champex Linden and like you, I can't find any more useful information.

You still may have a duff 55050/55055 though? I could confirm they work if you wanted to post them to me....

I thought that you might be able to plug the cable into the port for the 55055 receiver Mark, but I see I was wrong now....

Steven, have you checked the setting for the ID on the 55055 Receiver?

Normally set to 2 at the factory.

Linky for the 55055 here, page 13....

Last night, I did wonder if the 55015 Universal Remote was the cause of your problem, and that maybe you should be using the 55016 Loco Remote (with the speed control knob), but reading through the various Champex-Linden pdf files this morning, it does seem you can use either version of MTS Remote with the 51070 Controller and 55050/55055 transmitter/receiver combination....

My receiver is an old one & the dip switch settings do not tally with the instructions. In the end I went through every combination of setting & tried every track setting. The results table were nothing like instructions.
It now works (If I can remember what track it is set to).

Any update on this Steven?

I see Cogges (Ian) is on the forum today, so he might be able to help.

He is the only Grailer I know who has used the 55015/6 Remote with a 51070 Controller....

Sorry guys, I've been really busy lately and totally forgot to reply!
I tried the options you have all given and nothing worked. The only thing I have noticed, when the reciever unit is plugged in, the little red LED doesn't come on, I wonder if this may be faulty?
Cheers,
Steven
