Live steam on a cold day

It was a lovely bright cold day yesterday so I decided to film a static steam-up of the Caradoc. (I did one of the Hornby LS Papyrus a couple of years ago - which is why this vid is called 'Part 2')

It was interesting having a good look while she was steaming - there's something fascinating about watching cylinders, rods and wheels whizzing around

It really wasn't running as fast as it seems on the vid - honest!

Runs nice Tom,try pushing the reverser forward and back to clear the condensate.

Hot Stuff, must admit its this time of year i miss the live steam

Needs some rails.

Accucrafts clear the condensate quicker going astern, it's the way the steam passages are in the valves.....

Chilly day steam.....

Nice pics Neil - but they don't depict how flippin' cold it was....

(BTW - got to go all the way down the north (and back again) this Saturday evening to sunny Andreas to take Mrs LJ to a birthday party !!)

There's nothing like a live steamy on a cold day.

Apart from a single malt.......

It was rather chilly, David! There were frozen fingerprints on the carriage roofs!

L&L out of action currently, otherwise we'd have an night running session! Oh, what do you mean you have to go to the party too!!!:rolf:

I'll be having a get together when the re-opening happens, shouldn't be too long now (allegedly) - I'll e mail you!

Oh! if only I had a cold spell to make photo's like that...........snigger snigger.............

Here is a photo of my Roundhouse " Old Colonial " ( 24 years old ) having a run earlier this month. Nice steam plume and a very soft chuff as it runs by. Converted to gas firing by me and sporting an Accucraft replacement pressure gauge . Other detail changes include moving the dome forward and changing the wood loads to coal. I also painted the detail parts under smokebox. Makes it a different locomotive.
