LNWR 19” Goods from Bachmann Thomas
This is just a first picture of my current build which I’ve got most of the bits for.
It uses a Thomas chassis; an Emily tender on smaller wheels, castings from Williams models and various bits from GRS as well as much styrene.
Over the next few weeks I hope it ll gradually become more lifelike and complete.

Latest progress in the 19” goods .
The general shape of the loco is now in place. The castings on the boiler are from Williams models, I picked these up at last years gauge 3 show . The buffers are from GRS. Next week I hope get a bit more detailing done and make a start on altering the Emily tender body to make it more LNWR looking.
Have to see how it goes as at present I’m a bit distracted on some much bigger puffersE67D8919-F21C-448A-92A3-12FAA076CCDE.jpeg8A30508C-0F42-4666-AAEA-3EE985250332.jpeg

Just an update. The loco cab and smoke box are beginning to look the part. The Emily tender is in the process of being widened and the flared top has been reduced. The back corners have been rounded also.
For comparison my 4mm Gem kit built Prince of Wales is posed in the foreground.

This weeks update has the loco and tender almost ready for the paint shop! I’ve got to make the sand boxes that sit below the running plate in front of the first set of drivers, then it’s a coat of primer followed by satin finish coats. The tender is complete bar coal ( which comes after painting and lining. LNWR lining transfers are on order from Fox and a set of plates will be ordered from Peter Wood.
Images of the model below as well as a work’s photo of the prototype.

Probably the last post I’ll do on this model.
It’s almost complete, awaiting number plates, a crew, and a bit of touching up the paint particularly on the wheels where Thomas blue is trying to come through.
I’m getting ready to start the next loco which will be a model of Cecil Raikes the Mersey Railway 0-6-4T which although preserved isn’t properly restored and seems not to be displayed at present. I’ve been fortunate enough to see its surviving sister preserved inAustralia but needing a huge amount of work to make it presentable.
The model will use a devious diesel chassis!
