Locomotive Roof Insulators

Apologies for the slightly odd title...

I have built a GRS "Boxcab" diesel kit as an 0-6-0 electric locomotive, kind of like a RhB GE 2/4 Boxcab.

I made the insulators on the roof from discs of plastic and rod (they look okay, bit really not great) and I'm wondering if there is a commercial product out there that would look more like... well and insulator. I'm thinking of something like the insultors on an LGB Croc.

Hope this makes reasonable sense!!

Thanks
Tony

Yes the beads will work fine, used them for Overhead Insulators on the Ruschbahn. Problem is Painting them, best to give them a few coats of Rattle Can. Suggest the Undercoat Brown. Then leave them that Colour or whatever you feel like after. Red appears popular on LGB Locs, but feel it is too bright myself. In use they would tarnish to the Brown anyway.

Looking at the printed offerings..
Plastic 'rod' (of any source) in either a lathe, or drill chuck.. Then needle files to 'turn' your own..

Do it whilst SW is out, and you can use the vacuum to keep the dust down! ;):clap:

very simple and cheep. Use broken darts., The screwing part drll a little hole in the middle, than put an brass wire in the hole bend it i position an glue it onto the roof.
