Hmmm ... can't find it - can you post a link? Please! ;D

Is this the ebay auction you are referring to?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/GARDEN-RAILWAY-SPECIALISTS-LGB-KIT-BUILT-G-GAUGE-L-B-SOUTHERN-SR-LONG-COACH-x3mw-/361160427211?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item5416d6c6cb

Thank you for the link - out of my price range though!

This might well be the link;-

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/museum-quality-16mm-SM32-lynton-barnstaple-coach-almost-everything-to-complete-/191496250081?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item2c9610e2e1

If I modelled that line (and if I could afford), I would be a bag of nerves completing the the coach - such is the high quality of workmanship!

That link has to be the correct one. I was looking for the wrong gauge and wrong railway. It is not davyb's fault as the auction title isn't really correct. This is one beautiful model even though it is not completed. If it wasn't so expensive (although it appears to be worth the asking price) it would look very nice in a display case. If any one on GSC buys the car, I hope that they post photos here when they have completed the work on it.

Thanks to davyb for bringing it to our attention and to Mick for finding the correct link.

Thanks George, but I had looked at it (and drooled a little) before taking my early morning look at the Forum.

It is a superb job indeed.

The GRS L&B Coach kits are still available at between 100-140 a pop. So for £450 you can still but kits to make yourself. Why would you double that to get some that you could do yourself? From reports of a friend who built some they are well thought out kits.

Accucraft L&B coaches £150 a pop from Track-Shack, and you don't have to build em.

OK the Brake composite is out of stock but all other variant produced by Accucraft are listed as in stock.

OMG, I've just seen what we think is the correct link. What a stunning piece of work. You certainly wouldn't get that in an Accucraft coach, fair play.

Aha the link that trammayo is a different animal indeed. Very nice. Still not sure that I would want to spend that on a coach in the Garden. Perhaps as a Shelf Queen and a run on High Days and Holidays though it may be justifiable if the L&B is your thing.

T'is a thing of beauty, so a joy forever!

The attention to detail, and amount of research, time and effort, gone into it probably equates to many more hours work than you would be paying for, even if the coach itself were 'free'.
SWMBO has the same with her hobby of bobbin lace.. Recently made a garter for a family members wedding.. About 80 hours work.

Wow the interiors are exquisite, works of art :P

I built a DJB Isle of Man Railway carriage last year (there are photos somewhere on this site), which was a lovely kit to build, and produced a good-looking piece of rolling stock. It cost about 2/3rds the price of this in the end -and that was without the labour. So when you look at it that way, this one's good value for money. Or compare it with the G1 carriages at the bottom of the ebay page under 'Similar items you may be interested in': £450, £750... :o
