Add more lead, as much as possible as it it is a lightweight.
Take off the decoder, replace with a big lump of lead & then refit the decoder on the top, ensuring that its not shorting to the lead.
I have replaced the traction tyre wheel with a plain one to improve power pick up.

As Mike says, more weight!

It has the same motor block as the Stainz but weighs far less making it a less capable puller out of the box.

The 5005 is the easiest LGB loco to get into. There are 2 screws underneath, just behind the cylinders. Remove these first. Then find the little "pip" just above the front buffer. Push this in & the front should release. Once you can lift the front push the body back until the back unclips & it will come off.

I think its the Spremberger

And sometimes, it comes with chip too....

actually the engine is nicely changed with weight as noted-i put lead wool into both my green and older black using 2 plastic baggys to insulate and contain the stuff  -plenty of room in the shell

seems to me i saw a pic of the LGB spremberger loco in a book i have

-super detailed with lots of added piping and nicer, more detailed lanterns-the change made it look very real-was hauling tipple ore cars along a rock wall as i recall

-its amazing what great things can be done with simplest of engines with a bit of effort, money, patience and talent
