I am working with friends making a four section shunting layout, we need 6 tapered metal location pegs but can't remember what they are called. Can an one help please as we would like to look then up on Amazon

Yep, I know them as pattern makers dowels. These are the ones I've used for decades on various layouts (I find them much better than some of the brass type available on ebay and some model shops):
The last batch I bought a few years ago came from a society I think, but I see they're available from Eileen's Emporium:

Here are some in use on my current N gauge project. To be honest they probably should be mounted higher / nearer the track but I'm following a standard I set over 20 years ago!
