Any ideas on making artificial trees for my outside railway

This is how I make trees for my indoor section of the railway. But i cant put these outside

This bloke makes his from string/rope and wire, my neighbor uses this method on his On30 layout.
Admittedly it is indoors but using a rust/corrosion resistant wire and nylon rope should last for a few years.
