"Mamod" and "Janet"

Hi folksI have to admit that my old Mamod SL1, kit built loco was a bit of a pain, despite the new boiler, wheels, cylinders etc, so it spent most of its time on the shelf. Then Roy Wood told me that he had bought the rights to the PPS "Janet" and "De Winton" and also all of the parts stock from Alan Whitaker. So I bought a new reverser and lubricator/steam pipe from Roy Wood Models and fitted these, together a new burner and single channel radio control on the regulator. the radio gear is housed in a Fred Game designed tender that I built in 1983 (when a 27 mhz conversion was a spectacular failure!).Anyway, it was totally transformed and you can see a little video of it running here:

And you can read the story - warts, c*ck-ups (there were many) and all - here:

And Roy tells me he will be re-launching the Janet and De Winton models. He now has a page on my website here:

Cheers
Chris
PS I have now straightened the nameplate you can see in the photo below - good job I used silicone:)

Very nice indeed Chris.

Lovely restoration/re-build and good slow running.
Must sort/re-assemble mine sometime.

Nice re-work and a most impressive performance!

thats beautifull:thumbup:

Another interesting video, Chris! Thanks.

BTW, I ordered a Summerlands Chuffer for my Caradoc from a US dealer. Hopefully, he will be able to deliver it during our National Summer Steamup in Sacramento, California next week. I'm anxious to install it. :)
