Marklin 1 gauge

Does anyone know anything about Marklin, specifically a DB BR76 4-6-4 mainline tank engine (electric not live steam), cat. no. 5706. The one I've seen (analogue) will only go in reverse even when the polarity is changed? Thanks.

Thats because it is requires AC current! The later digital Marklin has a chip that can be changed to enable DC use, I belive that you can rewire the older AC loco's to DC as the Motor itself is a DC unit................Paul...................
