I recently purchased a Marklin BR 18 live steam locomotive from W&C. This is a scale 1 (1:32) locomotive running in 45 mm rails. If I am not mistaken the Marklin live steam design is based on Regner models. The displacement lubricator looks very much similar to the one on Regner's U8.
This is a RTR model, I got it with no controllers. She is gas fired with a piezo igniter. Gas tank is under the cab, there is no water pump or tank in the tender, but it is possible to refill the boiler under pressure through a valve in the cab. There is no whistle either. The tender is empty, only houses the RF receiver. There are yellow LEDs in the front and back lights.
This model has no proper valve gear only a reverser valve under the smoke box.

Last Sunday, I also managed fire it up for the first time with some help. The boiler was filled up through the safetly valve as the feeder valve seems to clogged probably due to limescale. Also the gas valve needed some attention to close properly. But finally we fired it up, got steam in a few minutes. Due to the limited gas and water she only ran for a few mintues before we lost steam. Still I am happy because there is no major issue with the loco. I have to buy my radio before I can ran it on my own.
