Hello all:

Has anyone had any experience with the Marklin-LGB Saxon-Meyer Class IVK steam loco with sound (LGB 24842)? I have the opportunity to buy one at a reasonable price, but I would like to know how well it handles R1 & R2 curves, as well as a Mallet or a Kroc ? Is the sound respectable? Is the quality as good as pre-Marklin LGB locos?
Cheers

Mohammed

99% of all LGB Loco's will go around R1's but the larger loco's look a bit silly doing so, bit like a train making a 90 degree turn!

One of the best loco's LGB produces. Having an 0-4-0 + 0-4-0 wheel arangment makes it ideal for tighter curves, (like the real ones were built for) Will run on R1s all day and does not look silly at all, two motors, very powerfull, very reliable. Mines fitted with Massoth sound but I have had one running with LGB F/F sound and they are as good. Recommend to buy it, be silly not to......What colour is it, black, green or dark green ??

I have the one with factory sound, in the brighter green finish, and it's wonderful - it was the first sound-equipped loco I bought (and one of very few locos I've ever bought new rather than second-hand) and it convinced me that I really HAD to add sound to all the rest of my stable! I'd heartily second all that Nemo said, if it's sensibly priced then don't pass it up.

its kind of like arnold swaanegger in steam, its relentless, it never stops, it absurlutly refuses to give in...its a terminater in steam...

I think I know what we're talking about? Piccy anyone?

One of the very first production batch, without sound, (no not the red thing!)
Still running well.

Thet are great locos far but if you are a bolt counter they are way over 1:22.5 scale.

That is the real shame of it, they are a nice compact locomotive in the 1:1 world...and I fear that the IK will face the same fate.

Thank you all for the comments. The one I am looking at is black with sound, RuKB. It is probably lighter than the ones made by pre-marklin LGB but that could be corrected. There are a couple of LGB coaches that appear to be in the same scale, the 125th anniversary RuKB wagon, and a black version and a cream and back version of the same wagon.

Oh I do like these. One day!:crying:

Hello Folks:
I am sorry to report that by the time I placed the order, someone else has beaten me to it. There will be another opportunity for sure. Thank you all for the comments.
