Merlin Major action

Hi folks
A few months ago I restored a wreck of an 0-6-0 Merlin Major - the later one with the reversing valve gear. Well it has mostly sat on the shelf since then, posing with a Mayflower, but yesterday I rose to the challenge of single handed filming and only aged a couple of years in the process ;-)

Half the movement on the left hand stick is the whistle and let's just say that the other half is a 'challenge' to get really slow running. Fans of slow-mo will be delighted to know that I didn't manage all that well, so the final clips are at nice, gentle half-speed.

You can see the result here:

Here is a photo of Major posing with Mayflower and I am definitely not brave enough to try single handed double heading:D
Cheers
Chris

Great video Chris. Looks like fall has settled in. Finally got my line cleared for the winter season. We got our first snow on Tuesday, just a dusting. Too cold and windy for any running.
Thanks Shawn - it was nice to get one in the can after a few weeks. I just took about an hour to get the track ready - small is beautiful in the Autumn (Fall!). Hopefully the snow is still along way off here.

I look forward to seeing some of your Winter action when the wind drops....
Cheers
Chris

Nice video of an excellent loco, Chris. I am a great believer in half-speed, especially with Accucraft locos which seem to be quick starters; something your Merlin appears better at.
Look forward to seeing a bit of double-heading...

Dave.
