When I received this cable car I saw that all was undamaged but a few things did cause me concern. Firstly was the 'cable' which was hollow plastic 'wire' and a sharp tug and it snapped. I went to a massive fishing tackle shop we have in town that fisher folk come to from all over. I told one of the guys there what I needed and he came up with some 300lb breaking strain fine wire. Ten meters for free and to cut it I had to saw it with a new stanley knife blade it was that tough.
Next the cardboard lower chalet building. This was going outside and as I have seen many have built some impressive structures but for these I marked them out on some 12mm ply which was then cut out and then well primed and painted. Next the 'carboard' chalet was laminated and the roof double laminated with an A3 machine. It was bonded onto the ply with a polymer adhesive and soon the building took shape. Irrespective of the instructions, the motor housing was not going behind the chalet but inside it to protect it from the elements. This was screwed to a concrete slab that would retain the tension due to it's weight and could be slid backwards very slightly should tension need to be increased.
I set the wires and the tension, adjusted the rate of climb and delay before reversing and plugged it in. Off we went and very happy with it. Just the top station to fashion now and will do it with the computer scans of the lower chalet building which I will do in reverse so the roof slopes downwards.
