The old codgers just had to have a look at the new arrival (see 'Mortimer for sale' in Private Sales) :

It being a naff day for doing things outside in the garden (and wanting very much to do some hands on mechanics) in it went to the workshop and re-appeared in that lovely shade of black that we all know and love (don't we? )...

It's held together by gravity at the moment 'cos I'm waiting on a Chuffer and some R/C gear. A tiny bit of lining and a nameplate should see him looking the biz.

After taking it apart, I'm even more sure that it had never been steamed before but it has been gauged to 32mm and someone has fitted a proper regulator handle... very odd...

Some of them came with regulator handles Tom.....Nice engine.

A very nice paint job there Tom, if I may say so. Is that satin or matt on the main platework?
Cheers
Chris

Cheers Chris, It's actually 4 (one for each grandkid). The current stable consists of:
Accucraft Caradoc and Mortimer.
Regner Willi and Max.
I've suggested to the missus that now that I've named locos after all our grandkids, how about I buy 2 more to name after our own kids?...... The jury is out on that one :rolf:

With a cobbled together R/C kit and in need of the bolt heads painting (Note the red ones!) the loco is already looking the well used workhorse:

The 'less than pristine' look is caused by me having to take it apart two or three times to get the servo sorted. I think I should have heat cured the high temperature paint before I fiddled with it, but then again, I think it looks excellent right now :)
It's interesting that this loco produces a better 'chuff' than my Caradoc and the burner is quieter as well.

Old Tom,

Looking good but you need to tone down the motion and cylinders as they are to new looking.

John.

Thanks for pointing that out John, you are dead right.
A fresh set of eyes can very often see an obvious, but easily rectified fault. I'm just glad I found this forum!
