Few questions I need some help with, and they be a bit silly:

Whats a good way to cut copper steam pipe?

I have a center flue gas boiler thats got a stainless steel superheater. If i need to solder up fittings either end will they need to be silver soldered?

Thats it ( well for now anyway :D )

CUT COPPER.
Use either a Junior Hack saw or a Carborunderum Disk in your Mini Drill (if you have one). Remember to clean up the ends and blow out any filings in the tube. Support on something, perhaps a piece of 2" x 1" with a grove in it.

SUPERHEATER
You will need to Silver SOLDER THIS. Reason it gets very hot and soft solder will melt.

[align=center]Copper will cut with a pipe cutter but will leave a rounded edge, saw with a fine hacksaw would be better, use a mitre box to get a square cut,

Stainless will silver solder if cleaned and fluxxed up with the correct type,I have never mixed two different metals accross a joint so dont know if there are any other pointers

Exactly what fittings do you want to add and where Si?

hi Guys,

well I need to connect copper pipe either side of an Accucraft super heater, and either side of the displacement lube thingymejig. Never thought of compression fittings- daft as I've done plumbing.

Either side of the superheater??!? What is it you wish to do with the steam to the cylinders?

Sorry Tag, I ment that I?ve got to connect one end of the lubricator to the output to the regulator, the other end to the super heater ( I?m using a Roundhouse lubricator) to the cylinders ( I?m using the PPS type mamod cylinders and reversing block). I know it all sounds a mismatch.

Ah Gotcha. A silver soldering job then. Just cut the copper pipe with a hacksaw. When you solder the olives on don't forget to put the nuts on first and the right way round. I am sure you will know how I know :-)
