Here is a pic of my friend Steve's Regner Shay under construction. I just successfully steamed it up for the first time. Roof is under construction, all clamped together at the moment. Waiting on Steve to get a headlight and whistle from Jason. There is a nice factory spot on the rear bunker wall for a slide switch, I am going to put a golden white LED in the Regner headlight and wire it under the frame back to a AA battery pack and the switch to power it. Steve had me do the build up on this one and his forthcoming Lumberjack kit. My minions are finishing up servicing the shay as we can see, so I can steam him up again to continue running in the drive line while I wait for the weather to improve for some outdoor running. Cheers Mike

Finished her up this afternoon, looks awsome, runs better each time we run her. Weather today was nothing but rain, so no layout time or video yet. Hopefully tomorrow. Mike

That's a really nice model. What's the minimum radius it will negotiate?

Re:My friend Steve's Regner shay

The manual says LGB R1, but I havent tried it yet. Weather has been crappy since I got it up and running. I will know possibly tomorrow, my whole layout is R1 curves. Mike

Yes thats a very nice model.... I think Regner make a G scale version of this railcar as well.

Anymore "during construction" pictures? And look forward to your report on how it runs.

Re:My friend Steve's Regner shay

Very nice loco. As you say they get better with each run. I got about 40 minutes out of my loco today. Having my Regner has definately revived my love for running trains.

Re:My friend Steve's Regner shay

Those pics are all I took. It will go around R1 curves, if they are table top flat. Mine have some side to side twist in places right now so the shay derails. Its at its limit and when the rear truck derails, the line shaft comes appart. On R2 it should be quite happy. I hope to have some video of her steaming on Steve's line later this week. I have been steaming it on blocks and back and forth on 5 foot of straight track. It gets smoother with each run.

My own Regner Willi also rekindled my live steam interests. In the past i have owned verious engines, only 1 that I had would have ran nice on my current line, I really wish I still had my Keith Mansion built class A Climax. Geared power that can deal with R1 curves, rough track work and the up and down nature of my line is where Regner's easy line engines really show thier stuff. Willi doesnt care how many wagons I put on his drawbar or how rough the track is. He just steams along like those issues dont exhist. I cant say enough good things about Willi or any of his stable mates from Regner. I think if more large scale modelers got thier hands on one or watched it run with easy on track work that would give a Ruby issues with runaways or derailments, they would sell many more of them here in the states. Mike

Hi Mike
I had a Willi here for a few days a couple of years and i have to agree that it is a great loco. I fitted a certain device to the exhaust and made a little film:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6_...s equally relaxing to steam. Cheers Chris

Hi Trev,
Yes Regner made two rail busses the Kittel and I think a Swiss one , looked very similar but green instead of russet coloured. Both were 1/32 scale. so very small working parts.

Re:My friend Steve's Regner shay

I have watched that video several times Chris, it was the one that got me off the fence to get a Willi. Is that "certain device" going to become a production item? I havent seen it at your site yet. I know that I would be probably interested in one myself. My Willi will be getting a roof shortly as well. Mike

Hi Mike
It is nice to know that I might have influenced your decision a little as you are clearly enjoying it!!
Regarding the Chuffer/Resonator - it is a special order item as it inevitable costs a little more than the standard Chuffer. If you are interested, then drop either Nigel or me an email (details on the website) and we can sort it for you.
Cheers
Chris
