Hello live steam enthousiasts,
I am scratchbuilding a 0-6-0 live steam loco. This week I finished the displacement lubricator and the steam tee, so now she can run on steam! I made a video of the first test in the kitchen (my wife was out ;) ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgUZiVb6iJw . At the end of the clip you can see (hear) the pop-valve releasing. Everything went fine, but I have to improve the displacement lubricator, as it produces not enough oil for the valve chests.

Nothing but admiration for a man who can build his own Live Steam Dragon. I hope you cleared the Drip of Oil I spied before She who must be obeyed returned!

nice job erik, i wonder if the lubricator will work better when loco is under load? regulator open more so higher pressure thru the pipework. and looks like you fitted a needle valve to regulate the oil flow? certainly got your valve events spot on. nice one, martin..

Thank you all for your kind words.
I made the design of the valve gear with help of the Dockstader Valve gear program. Brian Wilson's design is beautiful, but I choose for a abbreviated Walscharerts valve motion, like the Roundhouse loco's.
My first loco was a "Dacre", designed by Erik Stroetinga. This loco has slip eccentrics valve gear. For this, my second loco, I intend to use radio control for the steam valve and for the valve gear.
