My version of slate wagons

I intend getting a live steam loco and when I visited the local model railway Engineers) group in Bournemouth found they have 32mm gauge track. As I have all 45mm, I would not have any stock for the new loco. It will probably be a Roundhouse Billy so I decide I wanted slate wagons. I googled for some plans and found quite a selection. From it I made a drawing for using a laser cutter. The main deck is made from 10mm ply and the rest from 4mm ply. The 1st 2 pictures shows a complete wagon top and bottom.

Brilliant, Paul! Of course, if your loco is ex-Ffestiniog you'll only need to make another 95 to make up a train ...... ;D

Alternatively, you could make a gravity train and do without the loco.

That's seriously good modelling, really impressed. Just a couple of quick questions. When you say you prepared a drawing for laser cutting, do you have your own or have access to one? Are the finials on top of the rods blobs of solder or castings? Whatever, they look just right.

I think they were actually capable of pulling 128 - so, you'd better get cracking ........... ;)

Thanks for your comments. I will probably get a "Billy" kit as my loco.
I work in a school and have access to both a laser printer/cutter and a 3D printer. The drawing software for it is faiely simple but enables you to make this sort of thing. My drawing actually has enough parts on it for 5 wagons at a time and includes a jig for drilling the holes for the 8 pins. The planks for the deck are made in various widths so that no 2 have the same planking pattern. The rods are 1.5mm brass rod and the finials are M2 nyloc nuts pushed on the tops. The links between the wagons are made from 1mm brass wire.

I am considering buying a laser printer/cutter for setting up a business with my son. If I do, then I might start making basic kits for this sort of thing.
