coz i want to make it this weekend....got the chicken wires, batterin frames....tools...

someone post ere on threads months ago..i was forget who..nemo? granddad?

hi steve, you have to make the framework strong enought to carry the weight off all the sand/cement, 1st... you need to make sure the tunnle is adaqute for clearances so your trsain/waggons ect dont hit any off the frame work, mould the chicken wire, to shape, fasten it to your frame work.. check your clearances,again.. i mixed the sand cement, on a mixing mat..and i used cloth sacking material,..coat it in cement, and layer it onto the frame work, over lap the matreial, after you have covered the wire mesh/frame work, you can literaly smear cement over it, till you think its ok..it all a bit hands on!!

Hi Steven - Grandad Gnome just a few threads down in this section!

Steven
I have been trying Mels idea of using Waterproof tile adhesive (not water resistant) he used it to make a brick wall ....so far i have made a wooden frame and covered it in thin plywood then a thinish layer of tile adhesive and it took about two days before it went very hard (so if you think it might rain then cover it in plastic for a few days)
You can buy a very big and very heavy tub of adhesive for about £20 and that is cheaper and less messy than mixing cement you will then need to paint it with something like Masonary paint to protect it but it might be a better idea if your not doing a lot

PLEASE NOTE I HAVE ONLY JUST DONE A SMALL BIT TO TEST I DONT KNOW HOW LONG IT WILL LAST !!!!!!!!!! but it looks promising

I will post a picture later and you can see what i mean

Tony

Hi steven me again here are a few photos of the "TEST" it has now all got very hard but wouldnt like to be hit with a hammer im going to try a few bigger bits cos i think it would work but will need a good coat of paint to seal it

This large tub was £17.99 from a local diy shop but you might get it cheaper in B&Q

i dont know if it will stick to the plastic very well you may need to scratch the plastic pond liner a lot or cover it in chicken wire first

Tony

hi tony,, i ave a cunnin plan!!! lol..so it oo like a mountation to me when i turn upside down.. oo ok..so does u think i can slap a masonery paint on it? but what colour is the rockie mountains?
at the moment i did doing some work for it...too hot for me outside!! pheeeeew...hot..

yes that is a cunning plan in fact as cunning plans go that has more cunning than a cun filled plan of the cunnyest kind...........................Except you pond liner will be smoother than the smoothest smooth thing and mountains tend to be .................not so smooth....................So i think cover it in chicken wire and cover the chicken wire in tile adhesive then paint with "sandtex or a masonary paint.....what does anyone else think................

sounds good to me:thumbup:
