Today I had a preview of the new 8F to come out of China with The distributor for Australasia.
It will come in two colours, red or black.
The pre-production version is in crimson lake for LMS.
It has full working walsharts valve gear, gas fired and screw reverser. It has an axle and a manual pump.
The gas and water are in the tender with the water providing a bath for the gas. It also has a bypass.

Bloomin' 'eck! And I have trouble getting that lot into a 7 1/4" N.G. loco. Looks very smart, if you're into that kind of thing.

Yes the end of May is correct. Only doing a run of 100.
Available in LMS black, BR black or Churnott? red.

A4 looks like the next run.

Ron From Oz, I note your comment on the next offering from WuHu after the 8F being an A4. Do you have any more information on this projected product - eg live steam or electric powered or any links to information of the WuHu web site about the A4. Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated.

David, it is early days but the A4 will be live steam and in blue livery at this stage.

Oh! be still my beating heart.......................................

For anyone not running good anti virus software please be advised I have detected a Trojan Horse on the WuHu website at http://www.bowande.cn/company/eindex.asp < Link To www.bowande.cn/company/eindex.asp

Not sure what it is trying to do but I got a big Red warning alert and got the hell out of there!

Happy steamings,

John

John, I concur with that, although it wasn't there yesterday.
But then again I didn't use that link.
Just google up wuhu or bowande and you should be ok.

Can anyone who has actually had a WuHu live steam loco confirm if they do come with factory boiler and gas tank test certificates pelase?

I'm not in any way commenting on the actual physical nature of the goods, but as it would be illegal for them to be imported and sold in Europe without factory test certificates one has to ask!

My understanding is that if (and it is only an 'if') they came without certificates you couldn't sell them as 'Buyer Beware' instructing customers to test their own locos, the onus is still on the European importer to be fully compliant, and presumably any product liability insurance would hinge on suitable testing and certifying of pressure vessels?

Happy steamings,

John

Steve, I think the lower 2 bar/ltrs limit for certification does not apply on commercially produced items, only for re-testing, and private i.e. hobby manufacture.

Excellent loco - I almost want to model a standard gauge railway with locomotives like that available

Looking on the companies website I must say the Chineese QJ loco they make is magnificent.

The thing about this is that if you are commercially importing locos into the UK your product has to meet the requirements of the UK Health and Safety Executive. The HSE require goods on to sale to be safe and it would be illegal to commercially sell boilers (or gas tanks) that are not proven to be safe. The HSE regard a manufacturers boiler test certificate as a suitable proof for this purpose.

Additionally the importer should carry product liability insurance, this would be invalidated by a claim for something that did not meet the above requirements, and so would leave the importer wide open to punitive legal action should something go wrong.

The danger to the hobby is that if a hypothetical untested loco that had been illegally imported and sold commercially exploded there would be resultant damage to the image of our hobby, and one way or the other we would all suffer.

Happy steamings,

John

My 4MT imported direct from WuHu did not contain a boiler cerificate. As soo as possible I will have it tested locally!

WuHu have now provided me with a boiler certificate for my 4MT!

You cant just write out a certificate steve - you need to be professionally qualified and probably need to carry indemnity insurance. Good for testing your own gear though.
