I am also pleased to be now able to advise Accucraft UK are tooling up a live steam London & South Western Railway B4 0-4-0 tank locomotive in 1:32 scale. With a simpler specification they aim to produce an ?entry level? model which will have a full list RRP of £800 or so.

What do you think?

Happy steamings,

John

At that price it sounds to be very interesting.

This sounds both very interesting and exciting John.
Given the recent heightened interest in G1 with advent of the Bachmann/San Cheng locos, the G1MC wagons and the Slaters range this is quite an exciting development.
The choice of 1:32 scale whilst controversial for some seems quite logical to me as it looks like the majority of newcomers to the scale are choosing the more accurate 1:32 over 10mm.
Another issue in G1 is the huge radius curves that locos seem to require; 10' or so for the G1MRA 'Project' 4F 0-6-0 which is seen as a starter loco when the Bachmann/San Cheng models will manage 4' or 5' radius and the Tower Pug will manage 2'!

The problem/lack of a true entry level loco for G1 is quite hotly debated elsewhere since the demise of Ruby and the conversion kits so the B4 could offer a cost-effective solution for those wishing to start in the 'Premier Scale'

Whilst probably not to everyone's taste I personally like the B4 and think it is a very attractive loco that may also be generic enough to work in liveries other than those of LSWR & SR.
How soon can we expect to see it and do I need to start saving?

Full width front and rear cab sheets or the pretty LSWR one with the single central window- or both?

This could almost make me convert, I love the B4s... always fancied one in 00! Or 5"...
